FIVE Critical Points To Help Your MLM Business

By Coach Roger

I was having a lively chat with a business partner the other day and he asked if being a network marketer meant he was a sales person. He was a little perplexed by my answer. To break it down, I listed five critical points everyone should know to help build an mlm business:

  • You Are A Leader

The short answer to him was ‘Yes’ he is in sales. First and foremost, sales people are leaders and the world needs good leaders. It’s also one of the highest paid professions. People WANT to be led because given the choice of work vs. the path of least resistance, that path will always win; it’s easier to follow than to lead, so be different.

That said, people don’t want to be sold either but we all love to buy. If you lead your prospect into your business opportunity, as long as it’s the right thing for them you both win, which is what business should always be, a win-win.

  • Treat It Right

When my team member and I were talking, it was initially clear he wasn’t business owner-type material, let’s face it not everyone is made up to be a business owner, just like not everyone is made up to be an astronaut or an engineer. While everyone CAN DO it, not everyone WILL DO it and what it takes. If you join a business some people (and I’ve talked to them) want complete automation, they don’t want to do anything but expect everything. I think we can all agree that anything worth having is going to take some effort. Your success is directly proportionate to the effort you put in. Even further, you will be paid proportionate to the value you bring.

If you’re new to network marketing or to business in general don’t expect great things to happen right away because it won’t, it takes time to build a business. Remember, the planting and the harvest are never in the same season and building your business works the same way. Be consistent with your efforts and you will see results!

  • Network Marketing is NOT a Bad Word

For some people the words ‘MLM’ or ‘Network Marketing’ is a negative term. However, you can feel pride and comfort in knowing that network marketing is widely known to have produced more millionaires than any other industry in the world. It’s endorsed by billionaire business legend Warren Buffett (majority shareholder in Pampered Chef) and multi-millionaire/NYT best selling author Robert Kiyosaki (Rich Dad, Poor Dad).

  •  Attitude is Everything

It’s so true. To quote TV Host/Producer and talk show queen Oprah Winfrey “It doesn’t matter who you are or where you come from. The ability to triumph begins with you. Always.” Having the right attitude will make up for any short comings you may have in other areas such as people skills, sales or technical skills. Remember this and you will triumph!

  • Having a System Makes All The Difference in Your Business

Most network marketing companies don’t actually have a system, per se. Although it is tried and true, telling you to make a list of your friends and family or cold call strangers or even approach them in malls is not much of a system. What I’m talking about is step by step, over the shoulder training that will propel any business to the next level. It’s always better to have people chase you instead of the other way around. Hope this helps.
