Last year I blogged about how you can get the most out of YouTube by watching it and learning new skills. You can find that post here.
If you can devote some time on improving your skills, there’s really no better and free way to do it than to click on that iconic logo. Along those lines, I want to highlight an underrated YouTuber who’s seriously inspiring. At least he is to me.
A quick backstory: When I was 11-years-old, walking out of the cinema after watching “The Empire Strikes Back”, I wanted to be a movie director. The fast paced camera angles moving along with the snow speeders, the cinematography and my sheer love of everything Star Wars, moved and inspired me. It still sits with me today; yeah I’m a Star Wars nerd.
Fast forward to today, ok, me being a Hollywood movie director didn’t pan out. But I did make some, what I thought, were funny videos over the years with my friends and now I make them with my daughters. I’ll reveal more about that in a future blog.
Getting to the point of this post is like you, I watch YouTube videos to be inspired sometimes. A few weeks ago I stumbled onto one that blew me away. Some of his videos pierce my soul. That sounds dramatic but the way he shoots, his storytelling, use of music, editing, pacing, cinematography and his love of life takes me back to being 11-years-old again. Not to mention he looks almost exactly like an old friend of mine from many years ago.
In the creative arts, and in many respects that includes being a marketer, you want to elicit an emotional response that drives behavior for someone to act. Maybe by watching this video it will inspire you to act on whatever you’re thinking of doing.
In future, I think I’m going to post more blogs where I highlight inspirational and underrated YouTubers. Ladies and gentlemen, meet Arthur Moore.
