If you have a smartphone (you likely do), you also have an excellent password that is 100% safe from sabotage (you likely don’t).
You’re also likely seeing more of 2FA – short for two-factor authentication – whenever you shop online or in general, work online. 2FA offers you an extra layer of online security.
I’ve been meaning to write about 2FA but got sidetracked then just the other day I was asked if it’s worth the bother of downloading it so the short answer is, Yes! Here’s how it works: You’ll log into a service with your username and password on your computer, just like you always do. Then, you’ll either receive a notification on your smartphone — sometimes a text message containing a code, sometimes an app asking for verification — or you’ll be prompted to plug in a USB security key.
Once you enter the code, approve the login or plug in the key, you can access your account. Easy peasy for you but virtually impossible for a cyber-criminal to access your phone. You’ll need to do this only once for each account on each device you regularly use.
Here’s the catch so bear this in mind when considering using 2FA: you’ll have to reveal your cell phone number. If you’re comfortable with potentially being spammed in the future with text messages, it’s all good. However, this doesn’t necessarily mean that would happen but just be aware that it might, who knows who could have access to your number.
That said, the best and easiest way is to have the 2FA app on your phone. I access my affiliate programs and trade crypto currencies from time to time and always use Google Authenticator which gives me a code whenever I need that extra layer of security, it’s peace of mind and it’s free. If you’re not using 2FA you might want to consider it. If you’re on iOS go to the App store or Google play on Android and you can download it there. Here’s a link to more information.
If there’s one thing I’ve learned, particularly in my adult life, it’s that we all love to save money. I’ve also learned that sometimes the less you know the better : )
Here’s what I mean: As marketers we use a lot of data by uploading numerous files and videos or presentations and we’ve all been there when too many files slow down our computers. Having extra storage space becomes a necessity.
You’ve heard about Dropbox, Google Drive and other cloud services that allow us to store our files “in the cloud” but it can come at a hefty price depending on how much storage space you need. Did you know you don’t have to pay hundreds, perhaps thousands of dollars per year anymore for unlimited cloud storage?
I’ve been using this service for a few days now and I don’t know how they do it but this company called GCloud Drive charges you a one-time payment of $39.95 for lifetime access to unlimited cloud storage. Holy cow. It uses the same Google Drive technology you use every day.
Like I said, I don’t know how they do it but it works like a charm. To get all the info click here.
The subject heading above is bold but when you’re talking about an inspirational and proven heavyweight like Jack Canfield, he gets a pass.
I’ve blogged about Jack Canfield before because he’s made a positive impact in mine and my family’s lives and it bears repeating. The iconic author of the Chicken Soup for the Soul series is hosting a transformational webinar titled ‘The 7 Pillars of True Life Transformation’. Among other topics, it explores how to become a positive influence to others in your personal and professional life and how to break free from your inner prison.
If you’re at a place in life where you beat yourself up and question your value this free webinar is worthy of your time. If you’re not and just need positive reinforcement, you should be there too. This event is ideal for entrepreneurs.
After spending 10 glorious days in the beautiful island-country of Cuba, it made me realize just how lucky we are to be living in the western world, warts and all. Admittedly, this happens whenever I go away or see the less fortunate but it’s no less cathartic.
We tend to complain about the silliest things and become outraged for the sake of being outraged. Part of the reason is we’re constantly bombarded with shiny objects that take our focus away from our purpose in life, whatever that may be. When you work from home, it can become that much more difficult.
So when it comes to your business and its marketing, I think about what Marketer and cartoonist – a ‘Marketoonist’ – Tom Fishburne once said: “The best marketing doesn’t feel like marketing”. He’s so right but how do you utilize this concept to attract new clients into your world?
Focus on your marketing strengths.
If you are diversifying your marketing methods, for example, your spend is in Facebook, Craigslist and LinkedIn but your best results come from Facebook, why put your resources elsewhere? Double down on FB. It sounds so simple and it is but many people I talk to complicate things because that makes more sense to them. And it’s true, some people function better with chaos in their lives. Not me.
I prefer talking to pre-qualified people because in the end people buy from people, not websites. That’s my marketing strength but maybe it’s different for you.
As they say there is more than one way to skin a cat and in marketing it’s no different. One of the best masters out there, Mr. Grant Cardone, is a genius in sales and marketing. Watch how he helps a young, aspiring – and inspiring – hedge fund investor with ideas on how to raise money. Notice in the end it comes down to simply focusing on one thing to get it done:
Like some of you, I’ve had challenges with my weight. Thing is, I’m not fat but yet I love food. I’ll be 50 years old this year – OMG – but I’ve been told enough times I look at least 10 years younger or close to that which is always nice to hear.
It also helps when you have a beautiful wife who, through regular exercise and being a mom, has maintained a great figure her whole life. Adding two young daughters to the mix totally assist in me feeling and looking younger, so ya, I have an incentive in keeping fit. BUT, it doesn’t mean life is perfect, in fact I binge eat from time to time, usually late at night too, the worst time to do it just before you go to bed. It sucks when I do that. If this is also you, why do we do it and what the hell does this have to do with marketing or growing your business?
The old saying that you get what you pay for is, for the most part, universally true.
But what if you learned a valuable skill for free, what did you end up paying? You paid with your time of course but if you want to learn something and have more free time than budget, YouTube should be your go-to. Continue reading “Getting the Most Out of YouTube”
If you’re ready to launch your new business or you’ve been in one for some time, you know how important it is to have a marketing budget, or at least you should. This is something many new online entrepreneurs don’t anticipate, that spending money on marketing – and other items – on a regular basis is a key component in growing your business.
As the British would say about that headline, ‘you’re taking the piss’. After all, who doesn’t like to be paid in cash?
When it comes to participating in legitimate online paid surveys, there are a few out there and I noted one of them in a previous post. However, many pay in gift cards, coupons and points but here is one that’s different.
It’s called Paid View Point.com and it’s different because the surveys you take are the quick in-and-out-done-in-a-few-minutes type of surveys. You certainly won’t get rich doing it but if you’re invited to do a survey, you’re guaranteed to get paid in cash, via PayPal. It’s ideal for stay-at-home-moms or retirees or for people who have time to kill and want to make a few bucks online. Check it out here.
Business legend and New York Times best selling author of the Ultimate Sales Machine, the late Chet Holmes, said in 1993 you needed 4 attempts to grab your buyer’s attention. 15 years later it took 8.4 attempts. Today it’s even more.
Advertising costs more than 3X what it did a couple of decades ago and that is only to achieve less than half the results! So how do you affordably cut through the clutter to get your buyer’s attention today?
