2019: The Year of…YOU

By Coach Roger

One of the best things about starting a new year is being able to look in the rear view mirror and see what goals you hit or missed in 2018 then going for a higher bar or, if necessary, pivoting where applicable.

What if you didn’t quite hit your goals last year? It happens to everyone but what separates successful people from the rest is their relentless push in moving forward, despite hitting obstacles.

I tell my daughters this – I picked this up from Sara Blakely, billionaire creator of Spanx – Sara’s story of her dad ‘high fiving’ her and asking her how many times she failed today. The point being as long as she kept getting up, she was going to win. Obstacles are part of the journey to success, once you get that in your mind you can do anything!

Having Patience Can Have Big Rewards

By Coach Roger

While it’s a good idea to subscribe to a few lists to get the 411 on what’s going on in the Internet marketing and business world, if you’re on too many lists you can easily get bombarded with emails that it all becomes noise and you end up reading nothing. If that’s you, maybe it’s time to scale back a little?

Some of my favorite entrepreneurs include Lewis Howes, Tony Robbins, Ramit Sethi and Jack Canfield but I do my best not to overdo it because I value what they say and also value my time. When I subscribed to a litany of lists and got showered in daily emails, I started to get time-sucked into Youtube and blog wormholes (says a blogger) and in the end, I stopped reading and watching a lot of them.

So I scaled back and probably subscribe to 8-10 lists now. One of them, consulting guru Sam Ovens, sent an email today that bears repeating. In its essence, it talks about having patience in business and that’s good advice. If you’re just starting out or you’re in a venture that’s not panning out as well as you first thought, before you bail and move on to the next thing take a step back and look at things from 30,000 feet, so to speak.

How to Lose Weight and Other Musings

By Coach Roger

Like some of you, I’ve had challenges with my weight. Thing is, I’m not fat but yet I love food. I’ll be 50 years old this year – OMG – but I’ve been told enough times I look at least 10 years younger or close to that which is always nice to hear.

It also helps when you have a beautiful wife who, through regular exercise and being a mom, has maintained a great figure her whole life. Adding two young daughters to the mix totally assist in me feeling and looking younger, so ya, I have an incentive in keeping fit. BUT, it doesn’t mean lifeĀ  is perfect, in fact I binge eat from time to time, usually late at night too, the worst time to do it just before you go to bed. It sucks when I do that. If this is also you, why do we do it and what the hell does this have to do with marketing or growing your business?

A lot actually.
